Call in at the ‘Jobport’ in bayernhafen Nürnberg and set course for your dream job in logistics

Nuremberg, 29 May 2018 – The logistics sector offers a wide range of opportunities for anyone intending to launch their career with an apprenticeship, a work-based degree programme, or as a career entrant, experienced craftsperson, driver or logistics expert. And this diversity will be on show on Thursday, 28 June 2018, from 10 am to 4 pm, at the ‘Jobport’ job fair in bayernhafen Nürnberg. Two days later, on Saturday, 30 June and Sunday 1 July 2018, the same location will kick off the ‘Container Love’ electronic festival. And, just like at the première in 2017, thousands of visitors are expected.

The organiser of the ‘Jobport’ is bayernhafen Nürnberg, which, along with the port locations of Aschaffenburg, Bamberg, Roth, Regensburg and Passau, is part of the bayernhafen Gruppe corporate group. Numerous logistics companies based in the port – including medium-sized companies and major international industry players – will showcase their products and services and the diverse range of jobs they offer. Also ‘on board’ will be a range of logistics companies from the metropolitan region of Nuremberg.

‘Jobport’ is aimed at anyone who is interested in pursuing a career in the world of logistics: trained electricians, machinists, drivers, logistics specialists, school pupils looking for an apprenticeship or a work-based degree programme, and career entrants and job seekers from the greater Nuremberg, Fürth and Erlangen area. Visitors will enjoy an event offering attractive company booths and interesting job opportunities, all embedded in a fascinating open-air environment surrounded by 70 sea-freight containers. ‘Jobport’ is the ideal way for job seekers to make personal contact with employers and training providers. Entry is free.

‘Jobport’ offers a completely new take on job fairs, combining dialogue, presentations, photo shoots and events in a new and unprecedented form. This includes the unconventional container location, booths that go well beyond what is typically seen at trade fairs, and an exciting supporting programme.

  • The ‘Jobport’ will give companies the opportunity to showcase the goods and services they offer and communicate directly and casually with job applicants.

  • In the ‘Career Development Area’ a mobile photo studio will offer visitors the opportunity to have professional photos taken for their job applications, and an experienced job coach will be on hand to provide expert career advice.

  • In the ‘Food Court & Lounge’ there will be food trucks offering mobile catering, as well as a business lounge, a networking area and a ‘Job Wall’.

“Dialogue, events, photo shoots – ‘Jobport’ is as diverse as logistics itself,” says Alexander Ochs, the Managing Director of the operating company behind bayernhafen Nürnberg, Hafen Nürnberg-Roth GmbH. ‘Jobport’ showcases the most exciting sector of all to experienced logistics workers, craftspeople, drivers, career entrants, students and prospective trainees. The companies will present themselves in a ‘hands-on’ way, in exactly the same environment that makes the mix of logistics so extraordinary. It brings together technology and a host of industrial sectors, linking the three modes of transportation (inland waterway, rail and road), digitalisation, and global logistics chains. In the logistics sector, you have colleagues and business partners all over the world. Each working day in logistics is international, exciting and always a new experience. This mix is the reason why ‘Jobport’ is the first port of call for the future.”

Dr Michael Fraas, Spokesman on Economic Affairs for the City of Nuremberg, wholeheartedly supports the ‘Jobport’ job fair: “Nuremberg is an internationally networked high-tech location for industry and innovative services. In terms of economic performance, Nuremberg ranks among the top ten major cities in Germany. The 22,000 employees working in the logistics sector make a significant contribution to ensuring the success of over 25,000 companies employed in manufacturing and commerce in the city of Nuremberg. The logistics sector supports the economic development of the city as a whole and the employees working in logistics play an important role for the business location. The highly creative ‘Jobport’ job fair will provide a golden opportunity to discover the wide range of careers on offer in logistics and provide an excellent point of entry to this multi-faceted sector”.
